RTS will be able to assist in case of emergency for Repatriation, Indian Embassy or Consulate General of India where needed. We will work closely with ReactionTeam, FETNA TamilER and local Indian Association (IAVA) to ensure we are getting the necessary support during the difficult time.
Repatriation Process: Note this process can take anywhere from 3-7 business days depending on the state and consulate delays. The cost could vary from $10,000 to $15,000 depending on the services.
1. The Hospital will certify the death occurred due to natural causes. if not, it might take a day or two (eg death at home)
2. The family should gather the physical passport, and prepare to send to consulate for cancellation and getting NOC.
3. Identify the funeral home that is TSA approved to transport outside USA. Notify hospital that the funeral home will handle the process.
4. Funeral home will work closely with hospital and transfer the decedent to their location to perform embalming. They will provide the Embalmation certificate.
5. Funeral home does all the paper work with your help, ensure ALL details are accurate. Changing this could be not easy and can delay tremendously.
6. Funeral home sends the initial request to Hospital, to certify the death first, that can take 1-2 days.
7. Funeral home will then submit the death cert request to State. They take anywhere from 1-2 business days.
8. Funeral home then get a Non-communicable disease certificate
9. You will need to submit all paperwork along with death certificate to Indian Consulate to get NOC application form. They will need the Original passport. They can take 1-2 days.
10. Funeral home will then book the cargo directly with AirIndia. They will submit all paperwork to cargo clearance. Once the Civial Aviation clears it, then the flight will be confirmed.
11. The casket has to be at the airport at least 12-14 hours ahead
12. The receiving port of entry airport will ensure they transfer the casket to next destination.
13. Ensure you have proper mode of transportation from destination (cold storage)
